Ralph Lauren RTW S/S 2012 NYFW

Lauren took the Great Gatsby in 1920s as his inspiration for Ralph Lauren’s Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 2012 New York Fashion Week. Beautiful, elegant and glamorous dresses from satin to chiffon represented in pastel hues, from ivory, blue, yellow, white and green to metallic but soft gives the feminine touch in floral prints from skirts to scarves. Hats, the open toe pumps and the other accessories make the collection more luxurious. And you can feel the spring from Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. It’s a lovely fashion show. Fresh and stunning. I love it.

Finger Waving

Ginger Rogers

Finger waving involves pinching the hair between the fingers and combing the hair in alternating directions to make a wave shape. The end result can be quite similar to Marcel waves which are created using a heated iron.

"Gabrielle Chanel is the designer most responsible for establishing the modern way of dressing that encompasses comfort, function and simplicity. Following the first World War, the artistic and social mood was ripe for the pared-down, angular, sportif look that she represented, and her "casual chic" sensibility dominated fashion throughout the 1920s. While Chanel introduced the concept of the "little black dress" into fashion vocabulary, this example shows just how refined and varied the examples she designed could be. Here, strands of beads join to form an interlace pattern that defines the bust, the dropped waist and the dropped hipline. What appears to be simply a tubular beaded dress reveals itself as more complex and intriguing in the way the surface treatment references and delineates the body of the woman who wore it."
