A New Fictional Book: Hello, Norma Jean

What if she came back? That's the question author Sue Dolleris attempts to answer in Hello, Norma Jean by imagining a world in which the spirit of Marilyn Monroe returns to earth for a few days in 1999. By the end of her brief but emotionally intense stay, she has become the beautiful 73-year-old woman she would have been if the world and her own fragile psyche had allowed.

Kate Davis, 37-year-old, happily married mother of twins trying to balance her life as wife and mother with her corporate law career, has a near-death experience. When she recovers consciousness in the hospital, she finds that her guide back to life is Marilyn Monroe, who prefers to be called "Norma Jean." Norma Jean, who lets herself be seen only by Kate and Kate's best friend, Beth, spends 5 days on earth during which she helps Kate make several important life decisions. Kate also helps Norma Jean resolve some emotional issues from her life as Marilyn Monroe. The connection and intense bond between Norma Jean and Kate helps Norma Jean finally accept herself as beautiful on the inside, not just on the outside.

The second part of the book contains a wealth of factual information about the life of Marilyn Monroe that will interest her new fans as well as her faithful devotees.

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Sue Dolleris is a writer who masquerades as a Medical Recruiter during the day. She is married with two grown daughters and has lived in Nashville, Tennessee for more than twenty years. Sue will donate a portion of her book royalties to Breast Cancer Research.

"While there are several metaphysical themes in my book," Dolleris says, "Kate's near-death experience was based on an experience my mother had while she was giving birth to my brother in November of 1951. Nanny (as we lovingly called her) felt the same guilt that Kate feels at wanting to stay in the kingdom despite being told that it wasn't yet her time. Nanny lived her remaining 35 years totally uplifted by her near-death experience. It colored the choices and decisions she made in future years—much like what we expect of Kate after her time with Norma Jean."
